We
are registered for Full Day Care and Sessional
Day Care. In September 2006 we went Full time,
Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm. We accept funded
children, and you choose the hours. There is no
minimum amount of sessions that your child has
to attend for, you choose.
GIGGLES
CAN ALSO OFFER THE FOLLOWING FACILITIES:
BABY UNIT 0 MONTHS – 2 YEARS
AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP
4 – 8 YEARS
CARE FROM 11.30 AM UNTIL 6:00 PM
We
are open all year round except for Bank Holidays
and one week at Christmas but of course we will
have a party first before we break up for
Christmas.
The
Nursery is split into two main rooms, the 2-3
year olds and the 3-5 year olds. The added
benefit that we have is that we can also split
the 3-5 year olds again in order to offer them
more 1:1 time. For younger children please have
a look at The
Giggles Baby Unit.
At
the moment 100% of our staff are qualified in
childcare and continue training in order to
optimise their knowledge. All of the staff also
have current CRB checks. Several staff also have
Food Hygiene and First Aid certificates.
I
am delighted to say that we also had our first
OFSTED inspection in July 2006 and passed.
Because we are registered with OFSTED it means
that we are also able to claim money for the 3-5
year olds funding to help you towards the cost
of fees.
As
we are a small nursery we are registered to
accept thirty children a day into the nursery
and because of this we are able to cater for
every child’s individual needs. We have a very
positive attitude here at Giggles and are always
eager to meet new friends!
Prices:
We pride ourselves on having low fees but for
high quality childcare.
Fees
can either be paid weekly, monthly or termly in
advance. Extra hours are charged at £3.00 each.
There is also a late collection charge for
parents/carers that are late on more than one
occasion of £10.00
Funded Children:
If
your child is three years old then you can claim
funding from the Local Authority the term after
their third birthday. If your child is four
years old then you can claim funding from the
government the term after their fourth birthday.
We do all of the paperwork here with you so all
you have to do is turn up! Your child is
entitled to 5 sessions a week that last for two
and a half hours. This is normally term time
only but it can be split up to cover the
holidays if necessary.
Funded
hours – if you just want to use the funded
hours then you can drop your child off at 9 am
and collect them at 11.45. This will only
cost around £1 a session dependant on the
funding for each term.
Lunch
club – if you require your child to stay for
lunch then this will cost you £3.00 as the
funding does not cover lunch hours. You can then
pick your child up at 12.45
Afternoon
sessions will start at 12.45pm for funded
children and will finish at 3.30pm, this again
will cost around £1 a session.
If
you need your child to attend 8-6pm then we can
accommodate that and we can deduct the funding
from your fees.
We
have listened to parent’s feedback and
therefore have extended the funded hours to
accommodate other siblings etc still being able
to get to school on time.
If
you want your child to attend two funded
sessions a day then they will start at 9am and
will need to be collected by 3.30pm.
All
you need to bring to nursery for your child is a
spare change of clothes and a lunch box, but we
do ask that parents do not provide foods that
are made from, or with nuts, this is due to the
fact that we have children already attending
that suffer from nut allergies.
These
hours and prices are only available to the 3-5
year olds and are subject to change.
Non Funded Children:
We
take children from 2 years old here at Giggles.
The Day nursery opens at 8am – 6pm Monday to
Friday.
The
sessions that you can choose from are:
8am-1pm
which is £15.00 and includes breakfast and a
healthy morning snack
1pm-6pm
which are also £15.00 and include a healthy
afternoon snack and a light tea.
If
you need Full Day Care from 8-6pm then that is
£30.00 a day and includes breakfast, morning
healthy snack, afternoon healthy snack and the
light tea.
Light
tea can be anything from cheese on toast to
Chilli con carne to jacket Potatoes.
Every
child that attends Giggles Nursery will have
access to water, milk and juice throughout their
time here with us.
What do the Children do?
We
have a vast amount of activities for the
children to take part in here ranging from messy
play to computer skills, writing, maths and
science games, role-play, cooking, puzzles, play
dough and many many more.
We
encourage the children to choose their own
activities and to also help to tidy up in order
to increase their independence and social skills
for when they go to school. We also have a
secure outside play area with toys and the
children also have access to the Play Centre
with the staff.
If
children get tired whilst here then we do have a
quiet area for the children to sleep in and as
with everything we do here we try to copy your
routine from home as much as possible.
The
children also have separate toilets from the
rest of Giggles and these are specifically for
the nursery. Children do not go anywhere unless
they are with a member of staff.
The
staff follow planning on a daily basis to ensure
the children’s knowledge and experiences are
being stretched in order to enable them to
learn.
Outings and Extras:
Before
we go anywhere offsite we will always make sure
that we have prior agreement from you. You
always have the option to say no and that will
always be respected.
If
we do go out on trips then we use wrist straps
for all of the children and everyone is
allocated to a member of staff. We also take
registers and contact numbers for each child as
well as any medication etc. we also always take
well over enough staff and also a qualified
first aid trained member of staff.
Holiday Entitlement:
At
Giggles Nursery we understand that people take
holidays off work, so why can children not take
holidays from nursery?! If a month’s written
notice of holiday is given to the manager then
fees will only be charged at half the normal
weekly rate. This only applies for two weeks of
the year and a week cannot be broken down into
single days. If your child is off sick then full
fees still apply unless agreed otherwise with
the manager.
Security:
We
take security very strongly and have number
keypad systems on the doors into the nursery as
well as spy holes in the doors. Only staff know
the codes to open the doors. This ensures that
no-one gets in or out without us knowing about
it!
A
child is never allowed to go with someone unless
the adult collecting them can confirm your
secure password that you choose when you start
here. If they do not know it or give the wrong
one then we do not allow that child to go with
the adult. We contact the parents/ carers
straight away to confirm who should be picking
their child up. This is why we always ask that
if the parent/ carer cannot pick the child up at
the end of a session themselves then they ring
us to confirm and warn us who will be collecting
the child.
What do Parents / Carers provide?
If
your child is still in nappies then we ask you
to provide the nappies and wet wipes and any
cream that they may use.
We
also ask that you provide their packed lunches,
but we do not allow foods containing nuts into
the nursery due to allergies.
It
is also handy if every child can bring in their
own spare change of clothes; you never know how
messy they will get!
However,
we do have back up plans though! We do normally
have spare nappies and clothes on site but these
must be replaced or paid for.
Our
aim at Giggles Nursery is to have fun, introduce
children to new activities and friends and aid
them in their learning.
We
do the messy play here so you don’t have to do
it at home!!
